LYONS, SD – Quito Metropolitan Fire Brigade in Ecuador, South America has selected Rosenbauer to build 20 quick attack mini-pumpers.
Serving a city of 2.0m residents, the Quito Metropolitan Fire Brigade protects a population larger than Philadelphia, USA. As the capital city of Ecuador, Quito sits on the equator and is located at the base of an active volcano; Volcano Pichincha. Recently, government officials accepted Rosenbauer’s bid to manufacture 20 new quick attack mini-pumpers.
Timm Reifschneider, International Sales Manager for Rosenbauer notes, “Our local dealer, Santiago Aleman and the local Ford dealer, Mr. Felipe Andrade [Quito Motor’s] really worked to make this deal happen. After several meetings to understand their needs, we created a new quick attack model for them. The new model is built on the compact, Ford 550 chassis which is perfect for maneuvering tight, congested streets and perfect for handling the high altitude mountain area they serve. Parts of coverage area are nearly as tall as Pike’s Peak.”
During pre-delivery inspection (PDI), Col. Atahualpa Sanchez and Lt. Col. David Piedra of Cuerpo de Bomberos Distrito Metropolitano de Quito commented, “We really like the user friendliness [easy access to hose and SCBA’s], the versatility [4x4 and CAFS features] and strict compliance to NFPA’s standards. The fit and finish is incredible. These trucks will really help us reach the most complex areas of Quito.”
Sporting a Rosenbauer N-series, 500 GPM mid-ship pump, these mini-pumpers have the same knock-down capacity as larger apparatus already in service.
Each truck includes a 250 gallon water tank, Foam Pro 2001, CAFS and carries 20 gallons of class A and B foam.
All 20 trucks will be built at the Lyons, South Dakota plant and are expected to be delivered summer 2007.
