On March 28, 2025, at 2:25 PM, The City of Troy’s Fire Department was dispatched to 768 7th Avenue for a reported stove fire. Engine one, truck one, engine four, truck two, the rescue squad, medic three, and the battalion chief responded to the scene. Engine one arrived on scene with smoke showing from the structure and transmitted the signal thirty. Engine one's crew stretched an inch and three-quarter hand line through the front door and as they were doing so heavy smoke began to push from the eaves of the home and the roof.

Firefighters inside the structure conducted a quick primary search and was able to confirm all of the occupants including pets were out of the structure. Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior attack knocking down the kitchen fire, but the fire had spread into the wall and up into the attic area. Firefighters from truck one made their way to the roof and began to vent the structure. The pump operator from engine one established the water supply in front of the home from the hydrant. As firefighters were working a heavy column of smoke became visible to other responding units. Command notified the units inside of the structure that they had fire pushing from the vents of the roof. Firefighters notified command that they’re making their way to the second floor to gain access to the attic area.

The truck company on the roof vented the structure exposing a heavy fire condition in the attic area, firefighters on the second floor began to pull the ceilings and began to knock down the heavy fire condition traveling in the attic area and firefighters requested an additional hand line to be brought to the roof so firefighters could hit the remaining hotspots. Within 20 minutes firefighters had the entire fire knocked down and under control. Firefighters conducted extensive overhaul to the home. No injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation at this time and not believe to be suspicious in nature.
