PATERSON, NJ - City firefighters, family, friends and local officials enjoyed a day of celebration at Fire Headquarters, March 28th, with the promotion of several members, and the addition of two new firefighters.
Chief of Department Brian McDermott informed the group that promotions do not come easy. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. The new leaders will be an asset to the department.
Mayor Andre Sayegh said the promotions come just days after city firefighters battled a multiple-alarm fire in a local pickle factory, and prevented the fire from extending to neighborhood structures.
Promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief was Alejandro Alicea. New Deputy Chiefs are Michael Cleenput, Jose Molina, Jason Macones and Arthur Woods. Promoted to Battalion Chief were Craig Bland, Ryan Shouldis, John Mauro, Jr., Santino Falcone, Giocchino Panico and Ryan Fender. New Captains are Lucas Zarate, Leandro Enriques and Adrian Evans III. Newly appointed firefighters are Kevin Laverde and John Duncan. Lenore Byfield was named Provisional Supervising Public Safety Telecommunicator.
