SALEM RESCUE SQUAD 2025 OFFICERS AND FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
SALEM, N.Y. – (March 25, 2025) – The Salem Rescue Squad announced the election of its 2025 officers and director. The officers include President, Vincent Smith; Vice President, Jay Watters; Secretary, Eva Woodell; Treasurer, Dennis Campbell; Captain, Vicky Campbell; and Assistant Captain, Tim Phillips. Edward A. Donoghue was reelected as a member of the Board of Directors joining existing Board members Steve Snyder and Dean Hanks.
March is the start of the Salem Rescue Squad annual fundraising campaign. The Salem Rescue Squad is not a government agency and as a volunteer organization, depends on the financial and in-kind donations to complete its mission of providing prompt, efficient and often life-saving pre-hospital emergency medical care to the residents of Salem, Hebron, Jackson, East Greenwich and Rupert. Financial contributions to the Salem Rescue Squad will greatly assist in meeting day-to-day operational costs for things like vehicle maintenance and fuel for its three fully equipped ambulances, critical medical supplies, and member training. The Salem Rescue Squad has recently committed to the purchase of a new ambulance as two of its ambulances have more than 100,000 miles on them. It is a large purchase – but also a critical capital investment to make sure it can safely and dependably transport its patients. In 2024, thanks to the generous community contributions, the Salem Rescue Squad responded to 568 calls. This was a significant increase over past years that averaged around 400 calls. The Salem Rescue Squad envision the number of calls increasing in future years, due to the ageing population in the community and once the Salem Hudson Headwaters facility is operational.
As is the case with most volunteer organizations, Salem Rescue Squad is facing difficult times with membership numbers that challenge us in meeting our mission. Our current members come from a variety of occupations. Some have day jobs, some are retired. The Salem Rescue Squad is urgently seeking new members and are asking that you please consider joining our team. Members can help in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:
-Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
-Ambulance Drivers
-Attendants
If you can provide some time and the willingness to help, the Salem Rescue Squad will provide the training, equipment and uniforms.
