Brunswick Firefighters Quickly Contains Old Grocery Store Fire

The Brunswick No.1 Fire Company, Mountain View Fire Company for the fast team, Center Brunswick Fire Company, Speigletown Fire Department with Mohawk Ambulance Service was dispatched to 684 Hoosick Road the old Rotelli's Grocery for a reported structure fire. The caller reported smoke and fire coming from the top of the building. The first arriving deputy on scene notified the dispatcher that they had smoke showing from the structure. As deputies made their way to the second floor of the structure, they discovered a pile of something burning on the second floor and requested a fire extinguisher and began to knock down the items that were burning. Brunswick No.1 car two arrived on scene and confirmed the deputy's findings that he had smoke showing from the structure.
Within minutes of the dispatch of the structure fire, engine 4-1 arrived on scene and firefighters forced entry to the structure and had a heavy smoke condition inside of the structure. Firefighters deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line into the front of the structure and began to search for the seat of the fire. Speigletown car 1 arrived and immediately established a water supply from the fire hydrant next to the building to supply water to the engine company. Firefighters utilized the thermal imaging camera and was able to locate the fire and began to knock it down with the hand line. Firefighters took out the front window of the structure and ventilated the building. Engine ladder 35, Engine 21-1 and engine 7-6 quickly arrived on scene and began to assist firefighters inside of the building.
Firefighters conducted overhaul on the first floor of the structure and knocked down any of the remaining hotspots. Brunswick No. 1 car one notified the dispatcher that this was a signal thirty, command requested fire Investigator’s to the scene. Firefighters were able to get the incident under control in less than 20 minutes due to their quick response. No injuries were reported, the fire is under investigation at this time.
