NORTHWOOD, NH - A renovated barn burned down Friday afternoon, February 3rd, in below freezing temperatures and strong winds, displacing a mother, her five children and several pets. Northwood Fire, along with automatic mutual aid, was dispatched at 10:15 A.M. for the report of fire behind the wood-stove. The barn in the rear had been converted into a living room and bedroom space. First due firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke throughout the barn and transmitted a second-alarm. A tanker shuttle and water supply was set up. The attached ell and house received some damage. A third-alarm was eventually called, and the fire burned for hours. All crews left the scene by 3:12 P.M., and the fire is under investigation.
