Garage Fire In Lansingburgh Under Investigation

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On February 2, 2025, around 4:36 AM, the city of Troy‘s Police Department was on patrol in the area of 6th Avenue and 118th Street when they discovered a working garage fire in the alleyway. Engine one, engine four, truck one, medic four, rescue squad, truck two, and the battalion chief was dispatched to the scene. Truck one arrived on scene and had heavy fire showing from the front of the property and transmitted the signal thirty for a working structure fire. Truck one’s crew deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line through the front yard of the house to the rear of the property.

As firefighters made it to the rear of the property, firefighters had two garages well involved and an exposure issue across the alleyway. Firefighters began to knock down the heavy fire condition and as they were doing so with temperatures hovering around -6°F the water from the nozzle quickly began to freeze. Firefighters notified the dispatchers that they had live powerlines down in the alleyway and requested national grid to the scene. As firefighters continued to knock down the fire, additional units from the other end of the city arrived on scene and began to assist in overhauling the garage fire.

Within 15 minutes firefighters had the entire garage fire knocked down and were beginning to overhaul. No injuries were reported. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire at this time.
