The Fort Myers Fire Department (FMFD) recently held its Annual Directional Meeting, focusing on the forward-thinking of the department as it continues to build a strong, unified team. This meeting centered on reinforcing the power of collaboration, shared goals, and the importance of unity within the department as a whole.

A key part of the discussion was the alignment of the department’s direction. Administrative personnel discussed their commitment to the department's future, reviewed the department’s standards and expectations, and emphasized how everyone is working toward common objectives. The meeting also included valuable team-building exercises, designed to strengthen bonds and enhance communication across all levels of the department.

One of the highlights of the meeting was reviewing the strategic goals set over the past few years. FMFD personnel recognized significant accomplishments, demonstrating how the department’s focus on growth and unity has been successful. Since the department began holding these meetings five years ago, each goal has been met, and we strive to ensure that this year’s goals are no different.

An essential part of the meeting was a SWOC (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Challenges) analysis, allowing the team to evaluate where they can invest more energy in the coming year. This open-floor, honest feedback session gave everyone the opportunity to voice their input and contribute to the department’s growth.

With 170 personnel in the department, the annual directional meeting ensured that all members are on the same page, working together toward a common goal: to continue enhancing the safety and well-being of the City of Fort Myers.
