Two SUVs Collide, Trapping One Occupant in Hazleton

On February 3rd at 16:22 hours the Hazleton Fire Department and Luzerne County Medic 11 were dispatched to S Poplar St & Arthur Gardner Pkwy for a MVA with Entrapment 139 Chief, Rescue 3, Ladder 1, Pipeline 4 with Engine 2 and 5 responded to the scene. Crews were advised of 2 SUVs involved with injuries. 139 Chief arrived to find one vehicle on top of another with one person still inside a vehicle. Firefighters confirmed that one fenale was confined in the top vehicle and immediately went to work stabilizing the vehicle. Tools were placed in service to remove the driver door of the SUV. An additional medic unit was requested to the scene for a second patient. The confined victim was extricated and placed in the care of ems just 10 minutes after companies arrived. The fire department cleared the scene as it was turned over to Hazleton Police and the Tow Companies.
