On January 26, 2025, at 5:22 PM, The City of Troy’s Fire Department was dispatched to 219 2nd Street Patricelli’s Laundromat for reported dryer fire. Engine six, engine three, engine two, truck one, truck two, the rescue squad, medic four, and the battalion chief was dispatched to the scene. Engine six arrived on scene and had smoke showing from the front of the structure invisible fire from one of the dryers. Firefighters deployed a inch and three-quarter hand line into the building but were able to utilize a water can and knock down the fire inside of the dryer and cool down the walls that had minor extension into them.

The battalion chief arrived on scene and notified the dispatcher that the incident was under control and firefighters were checking for extension in the roof area and above the dryer. After further inspection by the truck company on scene there was no extension into the roof area. Firefighters inside of the laundromat removed the remaining clothing that was on fire in the dryer and brought it outside by the pump panel of the engine and the engine operator opened one of the discharges and soaked down the clothing.

The business suffered minor damage above the dryer and where the firefighters pulled apart the wall. The dryer was disconnected and taken out of service. A ventilation fan was utilized to remove all the smoke from the building. No injuries were reported, and the fire was deemed accidental due to an overloaded dryer.
