Northfield-Tilton NH. February 3-2025. The Tilton-Northfield and Franklin fire departments were dispatched to a house fire on Chestnut Street late Tuesday night. The fire was dispatched at 2347 hrs and since the Tilton-Northfield duty crew was already at another call, working a cardiac arrest, a first alarm was dispatched. First arriving Franklin Chief found heavy fire showing from the basement of a 2-Story Duplex. Franklin crews advanced a hose line into the basement and searched for occupants. The residents and a dog had already escaped the fire. The building had balloon type construction so fire had already traveled from the basement to the first and second floors. A second alarm was transmitted bringing additional companies from Laconia, Sanbornton, Belmont, Gilford, Concord, Gilmanton, and Meredith EMS to the scene. Firefighters worked for hours extinguishing fire throughout the duplex. The fire was brought under control at 0152 hrs and no cause has been determined. The Red Cross was called to assist the 4 residents, and no injuries were reported.
