Manchester,NH. January 19-2025. Manchester city firefighters fought a tough battle in an apartment building during a bitter cold and heavy snow storm. The Box was transmitted for a building fire on Laurel Street at 1942 hrs. First due companies arrived to find the rear and D side of the building with heavy fire extending to the roof line and into all three floors. Rescue Company 1 members attempted an aggressive search for occupants but were pushed back until more hose lines were advanced. The fire burned away access to the third floor and part of second floor making access and fire control extremely difficult. A second alarm followed by a third alarm was called bringing in all available off duty members. The fire was brought under control at 2120 hrs and crews worked till 2330 extinguishing hot spots. One civilian was transported, and the fire prevention office is investigating the cause of the fire.
