Brampton, Ontario crews were dispatched to the report of a fire at 475 Bramalea Road just before 1pm on Tuesday January 24th. The first-in apparatus from Station 202 reported smoke visible from a townhouse unit and crews made entry for an interior attack; however the fire quickly spread across the third storey and into the attic space. A second alarm was transmitted by Car 207 upon arrival. Flames eventually extended into the adjacent unit however further migration was halted due to cinder block fire partitions. During the search of an adjoining unit firefighters discovered several large python snakes and subsequently requested Animal Control to attend. The fire was declared under control after approximately 50 minutes and is believed to have originated in the ceiling of a second floor bathroom. Damage is estimated at $600,000.
