Driver not injured when vehicle struck by train in Pocatello

POCATELLO,ID- Chase Fernandez, 23, of Pocatello, is lucky to be alive after his vehicle was struck by a train in Pocatello on Jan. 23 around 5:20 p.m. at Dekay and Tyhee roads.
Idaho State Police said in a statement that Chase Fernandez, was eastbound on Tyhee Road in a 1993 Chevrolet Blazer, and stopped at the rail crossing. A Union Pacific train was traveling northbound; Fernandez failed to yield to the train. The train struck the rear passenger side of Fernandez's vehicle.
Fernandez was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
Responding to the crash were : Idaho State Police,Chubbuck PD, Bannock County Sherriff's Office and Bannock County Search & Rescue.
