Mass Casualty Incident Involving School Bus in Waltham

WALTHAM, MA - At 8:25 AM on January 17th, the Waltham 911 center received calls for a crash at Beaver and Lexington Streets involving a school bus. Further updates reported that another school van was on its side. Waltham Engine 2, Rescue 1, and Medics 1 and 2 were dispatched. When units arrived, they found a school bus mini van on its side up against a car. The female driver of the mini van needed to be extricated. Engine 7 was special called in addition to Fire Chief Randy Mullin requesting a Mass Casualty Incident. A total of 34 students were on the bus; six children were taken to Newton Wellesley Hospital for evaluation. The driver of the mini van was taken to Lahey Medical Center.
