SMITHTOWN, NY - Just before 10:00 P.M. on Monday January 16th, Smithtown Fire Department Chiefs, while waiting at a red light at the intersection of Route 111 and Route 347, heard what sounded like a car accident. Upon investigation, a two-car accident was discovered with one vehicle overturned and the driver still inside. Within minutes, firefighters arrived and began to extricate the driver. Under the command of 4-2-30, the driver was quickly extricated and transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
