WHITMAN, MA - Around 6:10 A.M. on the morning of January 7th, the Whitman Fire Department responded to a reported fire at 32 Fullerton Avenue. Engine-243, Ladder-246 and Car-3 responded. An East Bridgewater tower was started as the automatic mutual aid ladder. Companies had light smoke showing from a two-and-a-half-story wood-framed dwelling. Firefighters found a small fire on the second-floor, and a hand line was stretched. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire with the (one) one-and-three-quarter-inch hand line. Additional arriving companies overhauled and checked for extension. A Hanson engine covered Whitman Fire Headquarters. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries were reported. This was the second fire of the New Year for Whitman, as firefighters worked a working house fire on January 4th.
