ENGLEWOOD, NJ - The bustle of a New Year’s Eve in downtown Englewood was taken up a notch when at shortly before 4:00 an alarm was received for a working fire ay Grand Avenue and Tracey Place. On arrival heavy fire was showing from the second floor “A” side of a 3 ½ story frame with apartments over a first floor business. A second alarm was quickly transmitted.

A third alarm was sounded as the bulk of the fire was being knocked down. Three aerials were raised, but not put into operation. Extensive overhaul commenced and an additional engine and truck was requested. The fire was placed under control in less than one hour. Two patients were transported to Saint Barnabas Burn Center. Several families were being relocated by the Red Cross.
