On December 25, 2024, at 2:45 AM, the Visher Ferry Fire Department along with Boght Fire Company for the fast team was dispatched for a reported structure fire at 2320 Huntridge Drive in the Fox Run apartment complex. The caller reported their apartment was filling with smoke and it was unknown where it was coming from. A few minutes later the dispatcher, redispatched all departments for a update that they were taking multiple calls from multiple apartments that they’re building was filling with smoke.
The first chief that called in route to the scene was notified that they were taking additional calls from multiple apartments about the smoke filling up their apartments. While the chief and multiple other fire chiefs were calling in route the dispatcher notified all units that there is a police unit on scene reporting a working structure fire in the basement, the chief while in route to the scene transmitted the second alarm bringing the Clifton Park Fire Department, Jonesville Fire Department, West Crescent Fire Department and Halfmoon-Waterford Fire Department to the scene as he had a working structure fire and law-enforcement began to help evacuate the structure. Firefighters on the first due engine company deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the basement. Firefighters from the next due piece of apparatus began to check the apartments above the fire floor for any extension and to make sure everybody was out of the structure.
Firefighters made their way to the seat of the fire and quickly knocked it down with the hand line. Firefighters searched the floors above the fire and had no extension into the apartment. Firefighters were able to successfully bring the incident under control quickly but had a smoke condition throughout the apartment building that had to be mitigated. The supervisor from Clifton Park Emergency Medical Services noticed there was a few children effected by the fire and retrieved gifts from his vehicle to give to the children as it was Christmas Day. Command requested national grid to the scene to disconnect the power, code enforcement, fire investigation, and the American Red Cross to the scene. Firefighters on scene were able to clear the smoke from the apartments above and a short time later secured the power in the basement.
Fire investigators arrived on scene and began to conduct their investigation into what caused the fire in the electrical panel. The Red Cross was contacted for 29 adults and three children that were displaced by the fire. One person was transported from the scene with smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported, and firefighters went back into service later that morning.
