Yaphank, N.Y.- On October 2nd, multiple fire departments gathered at the Suffolk Fire Academy for a night of intense training designed to enhance preparedness for real-life emergencies. Members of the Mastic Beach Fire Department tackled low-rise fires, honing their hose-handling techniques to quickly suppress flames. Meanwhile, the Ridge Fire Department confronted two private dwelling fire scenarios at the Class A building, pushing their skills to the limit. The Islip Terrace Fire Department focused on commercial structure tactics at the taxpayer building, and Holbrook firefighters braved simulations of liquid propane gas (LPG) emergencies. Training like this ensures firefighters are ready to respond when it counts, and the Suffolk Fire Academy continues to be a critical asset to the county.
