With the merger of Citizens Fire Company #2 & First Ward Fire Company, the South Williamsport Fire Department was formed in 2016. Currently, all the main apparatus remain from the merger, but are re-lettered and renumbered for the new department. Engine 5 is a 2004 American LaFrance Metropolitan 1500/1000, which was original to the Citizens Fire Company. Rescue 5 is a 2006 E-One Cyclone II 750/600 that served First Ward along with the current Truck 5 which is a 1999 Pierce Dash 2000/500/105' rear-mount ladder. The department also operated a 2015 Ford F-350/Jomac as Special Unit 5 and a 2019 Ford Expedition as the duty officer vehicle. They currently have an alliance with Loyalsock Fire Dept., in which each station has two personnel on duty during the day and are on automatic dispatch with each other.
