Maryland Fire Apparatus in New Hampshire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

In today's world, many departments across America have purchased used equipment from other departments. In New Hampshire, that has been commonplace as well, and there are currently 3 trucks in service throughout the state that have been purchased from Maryland. The first is a 2001 Pierce Dash 100' RMA that runs as Ladder 5 in Sunapee, NH. This truck was original to Hyattsville, MD, serving as Truck 1, and was also briefly featured in the movie Ladder 49 in 2004. The next truck is a 2002 Pierce Dash with a 1500-GPM pump and a 750-gallon tank that runs as Engine 1 in Fitzwilliam, NH. This truck was original to Rockville, MD and served as Engine 31. At one time, Fitzwilliam also ran a 1969 Mack R/Ward 79 with a 1000-GPM pump and a 750-gallon tank as Engine 3. This truck was also original to Rockville as Engine 32 and is now owned by them once again. Finally, the last former Maryland truck currently in service in New Hampshire is in Colebrook, NH. This truck is runs as Quint 6 and is a 1991 Spartan/LTI with a 1500-gallon pump, 500-gallon tank, and a 75' rear-mounted ladder. This truck originally came from Savage, MD and ran as Truck 63 there. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of it that I could include in the article.
