Following a recent structure fire, Muddy Brook Fire Department personnel carried on with operations, finishing post-incident duties following a protracted response.
In order to maintain a steady water supply, firefighters had to overcome obstacles like a long driveway and a tight access road. In order to support fire suppression efforts, Tanker 175 pumped close to 50,000 gallons of water at a rate of about 800 gallons per minute.
In order to prepare for future situations, volunteers took extra time cleaning equipment, replenishing SCBA cylinders, and repackaging hoses after clearing the area. Additionally, residents who were interested in volunteering were urged to learn more about joining the department by department officials.
