The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department added two new members to its ranks during a swearing-in ceremony held July 5, 2026. Chief Eysser administered the oath of office to his daughter and nephew, continuing a family tradition of service within the department. Following the ceremony, both new members began the training process required before taking on operational duties and responding to alarms. The additions come as volunteer departments across New York continue working to recruit, train and retain members to maintain staffing for fire, rescue and EMS responses. For Syosset, the ceremony marked another step in strengthening its ranks while continuing a tradition familiar throughout the volunteer fire service.
