The fire sent a large column of black smoke over the Meadowlands area, during the afternoon rush hour. Local fire companies were assisted by units from Harrison and Jersey City. Three firefighters were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening conditions. The Gong Club canteen provided rehab duties on the humid afternoon.
