Franklinville, N.Y. — June 3 — To teach junior and senior students about the risks of driving while intoxicated and inattentive, the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Department, situated at 77 N. Main St., held a Prom Promise simulated accident drill. Students were able to witness vehicle extrication, patient evaluation, emergency medical care, and coordinated incident management throughout the exercise, which included a realistic car crash.

The performance highlighted how crucial it is to drive safely during prom and graduation season. To administer the educational program and strengthen awareness of road safety, the department collaborated with the Village of Franklinville Police Department, Machias Volunteer Fire Department, Farmersville Fire Department, Trans Am Ambulance Services Inc., and Mercy Flight.
