Members of the Trough Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Company visited a nearby Bible Camp at Crossview Church on June 19th to teach the kids participating in the program about fire safety.
The program, which featured talks on smoke alarms, house fire escape preparation, and what firemen look like when working in smoke-filled areas, was attended by five department personnel, according to officials. Using an obstacle course made with smoke generators and a simulated smoke environment, firefighters also illustrated the significance of remaining low to the ground during a fire.
Before concluding the day with a chance to use a fire hose under firefighter supervision, the hands-on program allowed kids to explore fire safety concepts in a realistic context. Department leaders thanked the staff at Crossview Church for inviting the department and for their commitment to educating local youth throughout the week.
