PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson homeowner was killed in a fast-moving house fire on the afternoon of May 16th. The blaze quickly engulfed his East 23rd Street home shortly before 3:30 P.M. The victim, reportedly in his 80's, was trapped and unable to escape. A neighbor tried to get to him, but was pushed back by the flames and smoke. The roof in the rear of the building collapsed during the two-alarm fire. The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the cause.
