Wallington Fire Department’s 17th Annual Holiday Parade
  Wallington, NJ November 24, 2018
The Wallington Fire Department is presenting its 17th Annual Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at 6 pm. This 2 mile parade is America’s oldest nighttime firefighter’s holiday parade of lighted and decorated fire trucks and floats, featuring 2,500 participants and over 250 fire trucks from the Tri-State area, which weaves through the streets of Wallington where many residents kickoff the Holiday Season with front yard tailgate parties with family and friends.

Co-Chair Rich Pelcher said, “When we started the parade in 2002, our only thoughts were to honor our 1st Responders, who witnessed the 9/11 tragedy, with a sense of community and relief. Seventeen years later, the event has grown as generations of families’ line our streets to watch this spectacular. Just to see the smiling faces on the children is enough to satisfy all our hard work. We even have one firefighter, who watched our first parade with his wife and their two young sons, and afterwards they went home to watch the “Polar Express” movie, and 17 years later, they still keep their tradition - they watch the parade, go home, and watch “Polar Express” with their sons - now aged 22 and 24.”

The parade begins on Mt. Pleasant Ave. and concludes at Centennial Field. Any organization, business, or community member who wishes to participate in the parade is encouraged to register, but they must decorate their floats with themes that celebrate the holiday season.

Parade awards will be presented to participants in various categories.
