CAPE MAY, NJ - Cape May firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of Beach Avenue and Decatur Street on September 13th for a reported motor vehicle accident. Deputy Chief Michael Eck and Engine 51 arrived at the scene and found a delivery truck that caught a guy-wire and caused a utility pole to snap. Damage to transformers triggered power outages to numerous businesses along Beach Drive. Firefighters helped evacuate people from residences and businesses in the immediate area until the power lines were secured by Atlantic City Electric. Firefighters also responded to several alarm activations in the area due to this incident. Power was restored at approximately 10:00 P.M.
