Mastic Beach Responds to Reported Structure Fire

Shirley N.Y. – On afternoon of April 20th at about 12:12 PM the Mastic Beach Fire Department was activated for a report of a structure fire in the vicinity of 52 Parkwood Dr in Shirley. Per the mutual aid plan the Mastic Fire department was also dispatched for an engine to respond. Mastic beach sent all 3 chiefs to the scene. The first due unit besides the chiefs was tanker 5-13-2. On arrival the crew from unit 2 along with the chiefs made entry to the rear yard as they had smoke visible from the rear. Engine 5-13-3 Arrived on scene a short time later. The crews investigated and quickly discovered a fire pit in the rear of the home. Mastic Beach ambulance was on scene to assist if needed as was Suffolk Police.
Mastic Beach FD Chief of department Luis Grego {5-13-30} quickly released all unit back into service. The duration of the alarm was 22 minutes.
